Reward tripled to $3,000 after charred dog remains found

- An animal welfare group has tripled its reward offered for information after the charred remains of two dogs were found in a plastic container set ablaze in an alley in suburban Philadelphia.

Authorities say the animals, which appeared to be mixed-breed pit bulls, were found Saturday night in an alley behind a Chester garage.

Officials say the dogs were inside a tote and may have been already dead when they were placed inside the bag and set afire. Necropsies are planned to determine the cause of death.

The Justice Rescue group increased their $1,000 reward to $3,000 on Monday for information in the case.

The group says it has raised an undisclosed amount of money to cover necessary forensic tests.
