Rowhome fire sends 2 adults, 3 children to hospitals

Five people in a Grays Ferry rowhome are in hospitals after an early morning fire that officials say was a fast-moving one that required a tough battle.

Crews responded to the scene on the first floor of the home in the 1600 block of S. Etting Street.

The fire started after 5am and was placed under control at 6:12am.

Authorities say two adults were taken to Penn Presbyterian. One of them, a 34-year-old man, suffered burns. There's no word on the other adult.

Also, three children were taken to CHOP. They had complained of smoke inhalation. Their ages have not been released.

Officials also don't know whether there were smoke alarms, and the origin and cause of the fire are under investigation.

A home next door also suffered damage.
