Search for missing 72-year-old woman with Alzheimer's

- 72-year-old Geneva Williams-McKelton has been missing since last Friday.  Her daughter Chantal McKelton is concerned.

"Very worried especially since the weather got really cold," she said.  Police say Geneva's longtime companion called them Friday night saying she had walked away from the home they share on the 4000 block of Blakiston Street in the Northeast and that she has a medical condition.

"He stated that she's developed Alzheimer’s over the last six years and she's in very good physical but she can get very disoriented," said Lieutenant Dennis Rosenbaum with Philadelphia Police.

Investigators say neighbors and businesses along Frankford Avenue say they last saw her that evening in the KFC at Frankford and Academy and at Sunoco at Frankford and Knights Road.   Her picture is also posted at businesses in Holmesburg Shopping Center not far from where she lives including a Rite Aid where workers say she comes in to get medicine and a newspaper.

"She's a real nice person. I seen her face so many times," said Halil Ceylan who owns Liberty Bell Diner.

"I've been here 14 years and I see her a few times. she come up here eating too," he said.

Friends are desperately looking for her.

"I can't eat. I can’t think," said Terence Taylor.

"It's a very tough time right now. Everyone's very concerned. Her family is very concerned.  Everybody just wants her to come back safe and sound," said Dan Brunwasser a family friend.

McKelton says because of the Alzheimer’s her mother doesn't really know her way around anymore and doesn't remember basic information like her birthday.  She may respond to her name though.

"Be a good samaritian and if she seems disoriented to you then call someone. Please call the police," said Geneva’s daughter.
