Caught on Camera: Brawl at SEPTA subway station

CENTER CITY (WTXF) - SEPTA police released photos of individuals who they want to speak with in connection with a major brawl in a subway station.

"I'm always worried. I'm always worried." Michele Dargan headed for her train at the Race/Vine Street SEPTA station Monday evening still very concerned over last Thursday's big brawl caught on camera at the station.

"When I see a pile up, I always go back out. I have to. I'm scared," Dargan told FOX 29.

Only FOX 29 was there Monday morning as SEPTA police arrived at nearby Ben Franklin High School as they zeroed in on the teenage students they believe were allegedly involved in the after school melee that left several students from the String Theory Charter School injured.

FOX 29 has learned that SEPTA police, using their sophisticated surveillance camera network, have identified close to a dozen current and former students from Ben Franklin they'd like to speak with immediately. Several charter school students were punched, stomped and kicked following a snowball fight outside the station. SEPTA officials refused comment citing the ongoing investigation.

School district officials told FOX 29 they are cooperating with SEPTA police as they do with all police investigations. However, because the brawl happened after school hours and off school property, they would not comment further.

Sources say SEPTA police will be showing photo lineups to the victims of the brawl and conferring with the district attorney's office as they prepare to seek warrants in this case. No arrests have been made at this time.

SEPTA is increasing patrols in known trouble spots and say they will be making arrests, and hope the pictures will help.
