SEPTA starting up 2 new trains, changing several departure/arrival times

There's another new SEPTA Regional Rail interim schedule starting, and it should mean good to great news for many commuters.

The best news is for folks on the Lansdale/Doylestown Line. There will be two new trains: one in the morning and one in the evening. Train #6505 will depart Penllyn at 6:23am with service to the North Broad Station, and Train #6586 will depart Suburban Station at 4:10pm with service to Glenside.

The addition of those trains on the Lansdale/Doylestown Line mean a series of time changes on other trains. They may be leaving earlier or later than the previous schedule.

SEPTA has been making changes to address crowding and station pass-ups, and maximize use of the leased train cars already in service.

The problems stem from defects found on SEPTA's fleet of Silverliner V Railroad cars. SEPTA had to remove of the 120 Silverliner V cars from service, which represent about a third of its Regional Rail fleet.
