Shooting in Delaware Co. led to multiple crashes

A car crashed into multiple parked cars in Eddystone, Delaware County, shortly after an apparent triple shooting in nearby Chester.

Chester police say it started near 9 th Street and Eddystone Avenue just before 11:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Officers responded to the 1100 block of Brown Street for the report of numerous shots fired, with a person down. They saw a victim, later identified as 30-year-old Joseph LaTorre, lying in the street, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

At that time a car with two people, including at least one gunshot victim, sped off on 9th Street and sideswiped as many as five cars at the Eddystone Avenue scene.

The car struck a fence, went up the sidewalk and over the stairs of a home, but has since been removed.

Viewers sent pictures of the bullet-ridden car with at least 15 bullet holes.

Neighbors who were woken up went outside and told FOX 29 News they heard the bang, saw smoke billowing, and inside the airbags had been deployed. One person needed help out but the other did, went across the street and collapsed.

They were both taken to the hospital but their conditions have not been released.

Anyone with any information is urged to contact Chester Det. Steven Byrne at 610-447-8430 or Det. Thomas Scarpato at 610-891-4708.

The department notes, "This is the 18th homicide in the City of Chester for this year."
