Pilot walks away after vintage plane crashes into tree

- The pilot of a vintage airplane was able to walk away after his plane crashed in Ocean County, New Jersey.

The red 1947 Stinson 108-2 crashed into a large tree in front of a house in Eagleswood Township, Tuesday night. The plane appears to have broken in two, with the tail lodged in the tree.

Emergency response teams found the pilot standing outside the downed airplane. A New Jersey State Police spokesman says the pilot has suffered minor injuries but is OK. There were no injuries reported on the ground either, and the house the plane crashed in front of was not damaged.

The crash has been referred to the Federal Aviation Agency for further investigation. An FAA spokesman says the crash occurred about a mile from a local airport where the plane took off.
