Spectacular water attraction coming to North Texas

- A spectacular water attraction is coming to the Dallas suburb of Rowlett.

Miami-based Crystal Lagoons will develop on the site of the old Robertson Park near Dalrock Road and Interstate 30. The city of Rowlett bought from Dallas a few years ago.

Video clips of other locations in Dubai and Chile show a massive man-made lagoon with sparkling blue water. The pools are surrounded by sand, palm trees, sunbathing decks and other resort-style amenities.

The $1 billion project in Rowlett will be called Bayside and will sit on eight acres. The lagoon itself will be the size of about 10 football fields.

It will have a world-class marina resort, restaurants, retail shops, luxury condos and apartments, a live entertainment venue and the largest water fountain in Texas. People will be able to go sailing, paddle boarding and more.

“We look forward to bringing Crystal Lagoons to Texas in partnership with Bayside Land Partners,” said Crystal Lagoons U.S. CEO Uri Man. “Texas is one of the most important markets for us, and we are opening an office in the Lone Star State in order to serve the growing demand we have seen from the real estate community here."

“This will be an incredible draw for Rowlett, Dallas and all of North Texas.  We are implementing some unique elements in and around the lagoon that have never been done before. The public is going to be amazed,” added Kent Donahue, a development partner with Bayside Land.

The project is expected to break ground on April 26. It is the company’s 12th project in the United States.
