Still picketing in Sunday's rain before Taj Mahal closes Monday

Thousands of workers will lose their jobs and Donald Trump's legacy in Atlantic City will come to an end Monday when the Taj Mahal casino closes.

But it will also mean the closure of what was once the premiere destination for poker east of Las Vegas.

The poker room in the casino on Atlantic City's boardwalk had long ago lost its luster. In its heyday, the room drew packed crowds from around the country around the clock.

Brian Koppelman featured the casino in his 1998 film "Rounders," starring Matt Damon. He says the Taj became the center of the East Coast poker world after it opened.

The opening of the Las Vegas-style Borgata casino and its poker room in 2003 started the end of the Taj's dominance in Atlantic City.
