Suspicious fires at senior housing complex under investigation

Federal authorities and Philadelphia police are conducting a criminal investigation after a string of suspicious fires at a senior apartment complex.

The latest happened Wednesday night around 9:00 P.M., forcing evacuations of the older tenants. More than 20 tenants had to evacuate.

Agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives visited the Hamill Mill Apartments in Germantown where one resident told FOX 29 News she's scared. She said Wednesday night's fire was the second of the day, and there have been four in the past two months.

She said she's concerned because there are elderly people in wheelchairs who can't get out of the building, and they need help because the elevators shut down. Her family wants her to leave and she's thinking of leaving.
