Swing state poll: Trump ahead of Clinton in Pa., Fla.; tied in Ohio

The two parties' political conventions take place over the next two weeks, and a stunning new set of Quinnipiac University polls show Donald Trump leading or tied with Hillary Clinton in Pennsylvania and two other key swing states.

Trump highlighted the good pre-convention news on Twitter.

For matchups, Trump beats Clinton 43-41 percent in Pennsylvania, 42-39 percent in Florida, and a tie at 41 percent in Ohio.

The polls show big advantages for Trump when it comes to which candidate voters find more honest and trustworthy.

Trump beats Clinton 49-34 percent in Pennsylvania, 50-37 percent in Florida, and 47-37 percent in Ohio.

Quinnipiac University's margins of error are 3.1 percent and 3.2 percent in both polls, which were conducted June 30 and July 1.

Fox News digital politics editor Chris Stirewalt said the new polls come after a "total dumpster fire of a fortnight" for the Clinton campaign.
