Teacher writes heartwarming letter to student with autism that didn't pass his exams

The mother of a boy with autism who failed his SAT exams was moved to tears by a heartwarming letter from a teacher.

Gail Twist posted a photo of the letter her son, Ben Twist, received from a teacher explaining his exam results on Twitter with the caption, "In tears," Huffington Post reports.

The SATs are the U.K.'s version of high school placement standardized testing.

According to The Mighty, although Ben did not pass the SATs, his teacher, Mrs. Clarkson made sure Ben knew about his talents and abilities that the SATs did not measure. "I am writing to congratulate you on your attitude and success in completing your end of key stage SATs," Mrs. Clarkson wrote.

Ben has autistism, and is a student at Lansbury Bridge School and Sports College, a school for children with special needs in Mereyside, England.

Mrs. Clarkson continued the letter by listing bullet points of Ben's best qualities, including his kindness, independence and ability to work in a team.

Gail's tweet with the photo of the letter went viral, and was liked nearly 5,000 times within three days.
