Temple's Beloved Football Coach Thanks Student Supporters

PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) Temple University head football coach Matt Rhule gave a few Temple students a generous gift prior to kick-off at the November 21st game against Memphis.

Amidst the announcement that Matt Rhule will continue to coach Temple football for the next six years, the Executive Board of Temple's ultimate athletic fan club, Cherry Crusade, took to Twitter earlier Monday to describe a kind gesture given to them by Rhule.

The tweet explained that after his usual pre-game sprints up and down the sideline, Rhule walked up to a few students in the organization who happened to be in the game early. Rhule thanked the students for their support of the team, and then offered to pay for their textbooks.

"This is an act which we did not want to go without a full expression of our utmost gratitude," the Cherry Crusade's tweet said. "Thank you very much, Coach, not only for this, but for so positively representing our university."

Rhule then retweeted and replied to the organization saying, "Thank you for being there to support us!"
After much speculation he will not return, it was announced today that Matt Rhule has been given a six year contract extension and will remain the Temple's Owl head coach.
