Tennessee officer shot serving warrant, suspect found dead

- The man suspected of shooting and wounding a Nashville, Tennessee, police officer has been found dead in a motel room.

Police tweeted they found the gunman who shot the officer inside a room at the Cumberland Inn on Tuesday morning, apparently from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police said the wounded officer, Terrance McBride, was shot after he and others knocked and entered the suspect's motel room to serve a warrant.

"As they were checking the bathroom, shots were fired toward them," police spokeswoman Kristin Mumford said. "They didn't see the individual and they returned fire and left the room."

Metro Nashville Police Chief Steve Anderson said McBride has a serious shoulder wound, but he is expected to make a full recovery.

McBride has worked for the agency for three years.
