Traffic stop leads to stolen weapon and drug charges

- Delaware State Police have charged 29-year-old Ricky Waters with weapon and drug offenses after he was stopped for a traffic violation.

The incident occurred at approximately 5:30 a.m. on Friday when a trooper stopped a silver Lincoln town car on Coastal Highway in Milton. Upon making contact with Waters, the officer on duty said a strong odor of marijuana was coming from inside the vehicle.

A subsequent search of the vehicle produced 1.7 grams of marijuana along with drug paraphernalia to include a scale, as well as an unloaded Hy Hunter 6 shot revolver handgun.

Upon further investigation, officials determined that the handgun had been stolen out of Maryland.

After the search, Waters was taken in to custody without incident. He was later arrested and charged with one count of possession of a deadly weapon, possession of marijuana, driving with a suspended license, and other related charges.

After being arranged Walters was released on $6850.00 unsecured bail.
