Truck fire, fuel spill at 295/42 interchange closes ramp to 295 N

SKYFOX is over the scene of a tractor-trailer fire on a ramp to I-295 in Bellmawr, NJ.

FOX 29's Bob Kelly reports it happened at about 8:30am Tuesday in the highway construction zone.

The truck is on a ramp with traffic coming from both I-295 north and Route 42 north.

Right now, all lanes of 42 to get to 295 north are blocked. Bob suggests taking the New Jersey Turnpike to get through the area.

A short time ago, flames were shooting out and the cab was fully engulfed, sending thick smoke into the air. Authorities sprayed foam into the truck's cab to put out the fire.

FOX 29 first noticed the smoky scene from a traffic camera on the Philadelphia side.

We don't know what's in the truck. It doesn't look like any other cars were involved and there were no injuries.

The truck also spilled diesel fuel across the roadway. There will be a long cleanup ahead.

When the truck is finally moved, we could also see damage to the road.
