PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - Supporters of President Donald Trump are holding a rally in Philadelphia on Saturday, while counter-protesters showed up for a planned rally to "disrupt" the event.
The Trump ralliers are marching for the "President, Vice President, Military, and First Responders" based on its Facebook event page.
Counter-protesters are part of the "MAGA" rally, who also took to a Facebook event page to discuss their plan on "disrupting" the Trump rally.
Both rallies started around 11:30 a.m. at Independence Hall.
Saturday morning, Pro-Trump supporters gathered in Old City where some demonstrators got into a shouting match with protestors to oppose the president.
Around 11:30 a.m., crowds of people gathered outside Independence Mall for an organized pro-Trump rally.
"We just wanna simply support our president," said Barbara Cataneo of Baltimore, MD.
Anti-Trump protesters united on the other side of the barricade, shouting opposing messages through megaphones, while bike officers monitored in the middle.
In the midst of the confrontation, Trump supporters showed their patriotism through song.
At the event, Trump supporters applauded repealing and replacing the affordable care act.
The pro-Trump rally continued on in the middle of the mall while anti-Trump and anti-fascist activists took to the perimeter.
Some covered their faces with masks, this uniformed group was escorted by police. At one point, smoke filled the streets.
Sgt. Eric Gripp of the Philadelphia police said there were a total of two citations from the protest/rally. One adult woman and one juvenile boy were taken into custody.
