Turkeys block traffic in Southwest Philly

Philadelphia has its fair share of traffic problems, but a turkey traffic jam? Now, that's a new one.

The big birds were blocking traffic at 58th and Elmwood in Southwest Philadelphia just after 7 a.m. Wednesday.

"The turkeys were in the middle of the street and traffic everywhere," Day care owner Nicole Child told FOX 29.

Nicole Child says the police were called and managed to get the pair out of the road. Somehow the turkeys ended up in a yard right next to the day care center she runs much to the delight of the little ones.

Sunny Do runs an auto repair shop on the block and says there's often a flock of them. He says they usually like to strut their stuff in the morning.

No one knows where the turkeys are coming from, but they're getting to be regulars around these parts.
