Vegas firefighters put out challenging building fire

Firefighters have been able to put out a smoky fire in eastern Las Vegas.

According to FOX affiliate KVVU, fire officials got reports of flames inside the vacant building at about 6am ET.

Their helicopter reporters said 80 percent of the roof has collapsed.

The station reports the building hasn't been occupied for several years and is known to be a place of refuge for vagrants.

Firefighters reported challenges at the property due to its structure, and took a defensive attack once they knew there were no immediate life-threatening issues.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
