PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - The East Germantown community came together tonight to remember a life taken too soon.
"This innocent boy. This family has no more graduations."
The sound of anger boomed through the 100 block of East Pastorius Street, but two nights ago it was the sound of gunfire.
"We lost a young good brother, a good warrior, a good soldier against mischief bloodshed and chaos."
That chaos spilled over Tuesday night when the quadruple shooting claimed the life of 16-year-old Jai Custas and left three other teenagers wounded, including his 13-year-old cousin.
Among those mourning Jai's death were friends, classmates at Mathematics, Civics and Science Charter School and a startling number of mothers who lost sons to gunfire.
"Wake up and understand the whole no snitching mentality got to go."
His family says Jai was good student who loved basketball and God. Someday he wanted to be a doctor instead his family is planning his funeral.
As the balloons released symbolize the life taken way too soon, it also showed a community fed up with the violence.
Police are still searching for the gunman.
