WATCH: Teacher quits after knocking special needs student to the ground

(FOX NEWS)- A Georgia teacher resigned after she was caught on video knocking a 4-year-old special needs student to the floor.

Surveillance video shows 71-year-old Amelia Stripling coming down the hallway. When she sees a student blocking the door, she bumps him hard with her leg, causing him to hurtle forward and nearly miss the side of the doorway.

The school's spokesperson said Stripling, a teacher for 22 years, resigned the next day. She also was charged with second-degree child cruelty, according to WALB.

Tift County school officials said the boy was not hurt, but the incident is being investigated by the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services.
