MARGATE, NJ. (WTXF) - Neighbors in Margate are demanding change after the weekend rainfall flooded a dune area in their region.
"This totally sucks the entire street on Douglas is flooded I come up here once every summer it looks like a disaster area," said Brandon Tropea, whose visiting from Annapolis, Maryland.
A project worth tens of millions of dollars has been taken to court by the community.
It was part of the plan for water to collect in the area, that would protect beaches and homeowners after the
disastrous flooding from Hurricane Sandy. It wasn't expected to rise this high for this long without draining.
"For the past 48 hrs , it started at 15 inches it's percolated down 2 over that period of time," said Vince Castronuovo, one of the community members fighting the plan in court.
The neighbors are expected to communicate with the judge first thing Monday morning.
