Huma Abedin announces split from Anthony Weiner

Hours after the NY Post published a story about her husband sending sexually explicit texts and photos to another woman, Huma Abedin- a close aide to Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton- announced that she had split from disgraced former U.S. Congressman Anthony Weiner.

"After long painful consideration and work on my marriage, I have made the decision to separate from my husband," said Abedin, reported by the Post.

"Anthony and I remain devoted to doing what's best for our son, who is the light of our life. During this difficult time, I ask for respect for our privacy."

The pair were married in 2010 and are the parents to Jordan Zain Weiner, 3.

In 2011, Weiner resigned from Congress after sexually explicit photos he sent of himself to other women were made public.

In the latest scandal, Weiner is seen in a lurid photo that includes his crotch and Jordan sleeping next to him.

Screen shots show exchanges between Weiner, 51, and an anonymous woman, that began in late January 2015 and continued through earlier this month.

Weiner is currently a stay-at-home dad while Abedin, 40, travels the country campaigning with Clinton.

The anonymous other woman reportedly sent Weiner a shot of herself wearing a pair of black tights with a rip in the rear, among other photos.

Weiner deleted his Twitter account on Monday.
