PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) Brandon and Jade McCray’s wedding went off but not without a hitch. After planning for a year, they made it down the aisle along with their daughter, Leanna, but as they recall things began to unravel quickly on the big day.
FOX 29's Shawnette Wilson shares the story of love and determination.
My bridesmaid going into labor at 4 in the morning that day. That was a big wrench in the system. And then the officiant showing up different without any of our knowledge," said Jade McCray, the bride.
But even worse than all of that in the back of Brandon's mind was his mother, Mary, unable to make it to one of the biggest days of his life. She suffers from scoliosis and has been bedridden for nearly 2 years.
"Her exact words were she was going to be very upset because all she dreamed about was seeing me walk down the isle with Jade and it was killing her inside," Brandon explained.
What Brandon didn't know his wife to be and his groomsmen had arranged to have an ambulance pick up his mother and bring her to the wedding. The videographer captured the overflowing emotion when Brandon first saw her.
Brandon broke down in tears embracing his mom as the groomsmen wheeled her in .
"The feeling I had my heart sunk cause I had no clue she was going to be there and when I saw her there it was amazing," Brandon said.
But looking back at the video she says it was all worth it.
