Police: Woman robbed, assaulted by two men in New Jersey

Police are investigating after a woman was allegedly robbed and assaulted by two men in Winslow Township.

Police say a woman was walking alone on Hayes Mill Road just after 10 p.m. when she saw two men walking nearby. She reportedly crossed the street and was then approached by the men.

William Mcelhenny and a juvenile accomplice reportedly attacked the woman from behind, striking her on the head. Investigators say the two men then slammed the woman's head into a steel pole, continuing to strike her in the head and back until she released her purse.

The suspects then reportedly fled with the purse and the victim's cell phone. A K-9 search ultimately led police to the victim's purse. The victim was treated at a nearby hospital.

Other officers involved in the search found the juvenile suspect

Officers found the juvenile suspect, who they say was in possession of a defaced air soft gun, which resembled a real handgun with its orange tip removed.

Mcelhenny was discovered in his Atco home by Winslow Township Detectives and was arrested without incident.

Both suspects face multiple charges for the alleged crime, including aggravated assault.
