Woman Roughed Up by Cops in Disturbing Video: 'Why Are You Doing This to Me?'

(INSIDE EDITION) - A cop in Austin, Texas was caught on dashcam video slamming a woman to the ground.

The video, released Thursday by the KVUE-TV and Austin-American Statesman, showed a white cop, Officer Bryan Richter, throwing a black woman to the ground during a traffic stop.

The incident happened in June 2015, but the violent footage has now been brought to light.

The woman, 26-year-old elementary school teacher Breaion King, was pulled over for speeding but the traffic stop got out of control fast.

In the video, King is seen getting out of her car after pulling into a nearby parking lot. Richter instructed her to get back in her car when she replied: "Are you serious?"

King then asked to see her license and told her what she was being pulled over for speeding. Her driver door was open and her feet were hanging out of the parked car, and the officer tells her to put her legs back inside the vehicle.

When King refused, he told her to stand and she asks: "Why are you doing this to me?"

He screamed: "Stop resisting!"

She said she was going to get out of the car when he slams her twice to the ground.

Another officer, identified as Patrick Spradlin, came to assist his colleague in the arrest.

In other footage that surfaced from the arrest, Spradlin was recorded from inside the squad car asking King: "Why are so many people afraid of black people?"

"That's what I want to figure out because I'm not a bad black person," she answers.

"I can give you a really good idea why it might be that way: Violent tendencies," Spradlin says.

Once they got to the station, King was booked on a charge of resisting arrest. But upon reviewing the dashcam video, prosecutors dismissed the charges.

According to her lawyer, King paid the $165 traffic ticket.

On Thursday, Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo condemned the officers' actions calling them "disturbing." He has also opened an investigation into both officers.

He added: "For those that think life is perfect for people of color, I want you to listen to that conversation and tell me we don't have social issues in this nation. Issues of bias. Issues of racism. Issues of people being looked at different because of their color."
