Woman severely burned in overnight house fire

A woman is recovering from severe burns after an overnight fire at a home in Port Richmond.

Firefighters were called to the 3100 block of Memphis Street at about 4:30am to find the first floor of a two-story home on fire.

Investigators said the fire was placed under control in just 15 minutes, but the victim suffered burns over 50 percent of her body. We're not sure of the woman's condition at this time.

Two animals were also rescued.

Fire officials say there were no working smoke alarms in the home.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
