PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - Police are investigating after a woman was shot several times inside of her own bedroom.
It happened on the 8500 block of Summerdale Avenue just after midnight on Saturday.
Police say the victim was asleep in her bedroom when she heard a noise, woke up and walked over to her window. She told police it was open.
Then, she went back to bed and felt a burning sensation and realized she was shot.
Police say the woman called 9-1-1 and waited for police to arrive.
She was initially transported to Aria Torresdale, but then brought to Jefferson hospital for treatment. Investigators say the woman is in stable condition.
Investigators on scene said the victim works as a security guard for the county court system, adding that it's unclear if she was targeted or if the incident was random.
Multiple people reported suspicious activity in the neighborhood in the last 24 hours.
According to police, there were two men in a van going door to door asking about a local car mechanic, but it's unclear if the activities are related.
