- UPDATE: Washington dominated Philadelphia in the first half but only lead 21-14 at the break as the Eagles returned a kickoff and an interception for touchdowns to stay within striking distance even though rookie quarterback Carson Wentz and the rest of the offense managed just 41 yards of total offense in the first two quarters.

The latest in a long-term rivalry (Washington leads 84-73-5) airs at 1pm on FOX 29, and this one should say a lot about the NFC East race.

Philly (3-1 this season) stumbled at Detroit after losing its momentum from a 3-0 start by having an early bye week.

Rookie quarterback Carson Wentz has been terrific, but it's the Eagles' defensive performance that has been just as crucial. They haven't allowed a touchdown in the second half and just six points overall.

Washington (3-2) dropped its first two games, but Kirk Cousins throwing to DeSean Jackson, Pierre Garcon, Jamison Crowder and Jordan Reed has sparked the attack.

Reed will not be playing.

The team announced Saturday he was downgraded from questionable to out because of a concussion. Reed reported symptoms Tuesday, was diagnosed with the sixth documented concussion of his pro and college career, and did not practice this week.

Reed is Washington's top offensive target with 33 catches for 316 yards and two touchdowns in five games this season. Vernon Davis and Niles Paul figure to see more action with Reed out against Philadelphia.

The Redskins said linebacker Su'a Cravens has also been downgraded to out with a concussion. Cornerbacks Bashaud Breeland (ankle) and Dashaun Phillips (hamstring) are questionable.

Eagles-Redskins at 1pm on FOX 29.
