Coach Sean Payton Staying With Saints

PHILADELPHIA- WTXF - Cross Sean Payton off the Eagles coaching wish list.

Payton announced in a press conference Wednesday that he is remaining in his current position as head coach of the New Orleans Saints.

Following a lackluster season in New Orleans, NFL rumors indicated that Payton was looking to move on. But he will remain as coach of the Saints, the team he led to a Super Bowl victory after the 2009 season.

If the Eagles or any other team had tried to hire Payton, it would likely have required draft pick compensation, as the coach remains under contract.

The Eagles so far have interviewed Duce Staley, Pat Shurmur and Adam Gase for their head coaching opening.
