Maple Grove scores 3 touchdowns in final minute for comeback win

The Maple Grove High School football team was down 17 points with just over a minute to go in Thursday night's Class 6A quarterfinal game, but an incredible comeback now has them headed to the state semifinals.

Maple Grove trailed third-ranked St. Michael-Albertville 27-10 with 4:30 left in the game. A touchdown cut the lead to 27-16 with 59 seconds to go.

Then, something crazy happened.

The Crimson recovered an onside kick and went on to score another touchdown, bringing the score to 27-23 with 46 seconds left.

They then recovered yet another onside kick and five plays later were back in the end zone with another touchdown. That put Maple Grove in the lead with four seconds left. They ultimately won, 29-27.

Maple Grove will now face Eden Prairie in the semifinals next Thursday at U.S. Bank Stadium.
