76ers Ben Simmons named NBA Player of the Week

Philadelphia 76ers rookie Ben Simmons is adding to the list of Philadelphia sports achievements in recent weeks after being named the NBA's Eastern Conference Player of the Week.

Over the last week, Simmons has averaged more than 18 points, 10 rebounds, and nearly nine assists while helping the Sixers pick up four more wins.

The 76ers are currently on a 14 game win streak, and a Friday night showdown with the Cleveland Cavaliers and LeBron James helped moved them into the #3 seed with the playoffs just a few days away.

Simmons week of stellar performances comes in the absence of the team's star center Joel Embiid who continues to recover from a facial fracture. Simmons was also without Dario Saric for two games this week.

Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic was named the Western Conference Player of the week averaging 23 points, 10.3 rebounds and nine assists while his team also went on to win all three of their games this week.

The Sixers will be back on the court Monday to take on the Atlanta Hawks.
