Families share stories of Pope Francis' healing power

NEW YORK- Reports are popping up all over the world about how Pope Francis has touched someone and their lives have been miraculously turned around, leading many to believe that Francis has divine healing powers.

Julia Bruzzese is known as the girl in the wheel chair on the tarmac at JFK waiting for Pope Francis to arrive.

Months before her doctors couldn't explain why the healthy 12-year old suddenly fell ill and became paralyzed. Her blood work showed no evidence of suspected Lyme disease.

But that was before Francis blessed her.

"Just a couple days after meeting the Pope, God on Earth, there was activity in my blood and I believe that the miracle's continuing," Julia explained.

During the pope's visit to America last September thousands of people held up children for the Pope to bless.

The Masciantonio family was thrilled when Francis kissed their ailing baby girl, Gianna.

Early reports showed that afterwards a troubling brain tumor had shrunk. But months later, Gianna is still in need of chemotherapy. Her parents told Fox News in that they have a long way to go, but she's continuing to get better. They say Pope Francis kissing Gianna was a sign that god has been with them through unimaginable times.

Monsignor Jason Gray who's served on the Vatican's miracle investigating boards, says the Catholic Church has a very high bar for such things.

"When a miracle is considered in the Congregation, it's got to be something that is of divine origin and something that is independent of human action," Gray said.

Julia's family is certain Francis is a miracle worker because his blessing lead to the right diagnosis and medical care.

She has since regained movement in her feet.

"When I think about those months before the Pope in my head I see darkness. I see sadness. I mean, it was just a horrifying experience. After the Pope, so many people reached out to us, you know, and I see God's love in everyone else's heart," Julia's father said.

Vatican experts stress that Pope Francis is a humble man and would say that any healing is ultimately god's doing.
