(WTXF) - The army veteran who was severely wounded when he charged the gunman who killed ten people in a mass shooting at Umpqua Community College in Oregon is now speaking out.
30-year-old Chris Mintz, who was in his first week of classes at the college, spoke to supporters in a Facebook video posted on Saturday.
In the video, Mintz can be seen lying in his hospital bed, cradling a tablet as he thanks the supported who have helped him raise more than $720,000 for his care via a GoFundMe page.
“Hello everyone, I’m doing well and I’m overwhelmed by the support I’ve gotten from everybody,” Mintz says in the video.
“I just want to wish all the other families a safe and speedy recovery, and I will talk to you guys soon. Bye, bye.”
The video was posted on Saturday morning at 9:32 a.m. by Kivonna Coccia and so far has been shared more than 7,000 times and viewed more than 250,000 times.
