Terminally ill father gets final wish to take his daughter down the aisle

Illness was not going to stop Pedro Villarin from walking his daughter Charlotte down the aisle on her wedding day in Metro Manila, Philippines.

The proud father was diagnosed with advanced liver cancer in June 2018, and was doing well until a few weeks before the wedding. Villarin ended up bedridden on the day of the ceremony, but he was determined to be there for the momentous occasion.

Law Tapalla Photography captured the moment as Villarin was wheeled up the aisle, clutching his daughter's hand while laying on a stretcher.

Speaking to local media, Charlotte explained the family had hired an ambulance and private nurse to help that day.

"We thought he would be able to sit on a wheelchair, but he couldn't take it and used the stretcher from the ambulance instead," Charlotte said.

Villarin died in the days following the wedding. On August 12, Charlotte shared a touching moment between her and her father from her wedding day in his memory.
