HARKER HEIGHTS, TX - A woman known as "Hug Lady" in Texas has died.
Elizabeth Laird is famous at the Fort Hood military base for giving more than half-a-million hugs to soldiers leaving for deployment and coming home.
She died after her battle with breast cancer -- refusing to undergo chemotherapy in November.
Many soldiers would visit her at the hospital and show her a little love and she also received a letter from former president George W. Bush.
One soldier said, "She meant a lot to a lot of us and she had a wonderful impact on everyone that she meant."
"She was always there when you were back too."
A GoFundMe account raised nearly $100,000 for Laird's medical expenses.
“Hug Lady" was 83-years-old.
