Area sees first snowfall, some schools delay opening

- The Philadelphia area is seeing our first snowfall of the season, and roadway issues and school delays have made their first appearance as well.

A Winter Weather Advisory that was in effect for parts of the area and expired at 6:00 a.m. Friday, as the snow made its way out of the area.

The snow caused a few issues on the roadways, including a jackknifed tractor trailer on I-95 Southbound, that left some motorists stranded as they waited for the path to tweet.

A number of area schools have issued delayed openings as well. A full list can be found here: School Closings and Delays from FOX 29

The Delaware Valley saw about 1-2 inches of snow, South Jersey and Delaware may see 1-3 inches, the shore points will see a coating and the Poconos will see about an inch.

Now our attention turns to Saturday.

We are tracking a Saturday storm. Winter Storm watches are posted for Sussex, Cape May, and Atlantic Counties for possible snow early Saturday with the second system.

The system currently hast two tracks. Track number one will only impact Delaware and South Jersey, while the second track would see the system make its way over Philadelphia and some of the surrounding area.

FOX 29's Sue Serio reports that the second system that could make its way here Saturday is forming near the Gulf of Mexico. We'll have to watch the track closely.

The second system has the potential to be a stronger storm than the current one. The question is: how far inland will it reach? We'll keep you posted.
