Teen charged for alleged sexual assault of sleeping student in Rutgers dorm

Authorities say a 17-year-old male accused of sexually assaulting a Rutgers University student in her dorm room while she was asleep has been arrested.

Middlesex County Acting Prosecutor Christopher L. C. Kuberiet and Rutgers University Police Chief Kenneth Cop say in a release Monday that teenager was charged with third-degree aggravated criminal sexual contact in the alleged attack Sunday at the university's Livingston Campus.

The teen, whose identity has not been released by police, was also charged with juvenile delinquency, fourth degree criminal sexual contact and third-degree burglary.

The charges follow an investigation by Rutgers and the prosecutor's office that found the teenager entered a dorm room and sexually assaulted a female student while she was sleeping.

Officials say the teenager fled the room when the student woke up.
