Shaynah Ferreira
Shaynah Ferreira joined the FOX 29 News team in August 2021 as a general assignment reporter and anchor.
Prior to joining FOX 29, Shaynah was an anchor/reporter at WTNH News 8, the ABC station in Hartford, CT, for almost two years. Her in-depth reporting on the COVID-19 pandemic and its disproportionate impact on communities of color earned her an Emmy nomination.
She began her TV career as an associate producer in her hometown at WJAR-TV in Providence, RI, before getting her on-air break at WSAV-TV, the NBC station in Savannah, GA. During her time in the Peach State, she covered the mass shooting at the Jacksonville Landing, hurricanes Michael and Dorian and the trial of five Blood gang members accused of shooting and killing a Savannah State University student.
Shaynah earned her BS in Broadcast Journalism from Emerson College in Boston. She also completed journalism course work in Havana, Cuba, where she served as an executive producer for the mini-documentary "Afro-Cuba Libre," a piece documenting racial tensions and inequities on the island.
Shaynah is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists and the National Association of Hispanic Journalists. She is multilingual, speaking Spanish, Cape Verdean Creole and Portuguese and hopes to use her language skills to tell the diverse stories of viewers across the Philadelphia area. When she’s not reporting the news, she loves to travel, try new restaurants, and spend time with her tight-knit family.
