2 killed in shootings, hours and blocks apart, 1 execution-style

- Philadelphia police say a man is dead after he was hit by more than two dozen shots, fired at close range.

It was the second of two deadly shootings in Frankford between Tuesday evening and just after midnight Wednesday.

In this later incident of violence, FOX 29’s Steve Keeley reports police officers found 28 shell casings had been fired in the 1400 block of Adams Avenue.

Just after 12:30am, the 30-year-old victim was shot almost that many times, which Keeley said is more times than anyone can even remember.

Police told him someone had probably stood over the victim and fired 28 bullets from a large caliber semi-auto weapon.

The victim was hit in his face, head, chest and legs, and the bullet shells rolled off him like a chalk outline.

Authorities call the killing execution-style because so many bullets were fired from so close, and so many struck the victim.

The area is mostly residential. There are houses on one side of the street and a vacant lot -- where the killing happened -- on the other side. The victim may have lived nearby because distraught family and friends gathered at the scene almost right away.

This does not appear to be robbery.

Witnesses say the gunman ran south, but there is no description or motive.

Homicide detectives are looking for any surveillance video for leads.

Two other men were shot just hours earlier, on the 5000 block of Frankford Avenue.

It happened at about 7:30 Tuesday night.

Surveillance video showed two men with two guns shoot at two other men, before taking off in a car.

A man now identified as Aaron Young, 29, was shot twice –- in his chest and back -– and did not survive.

Also, a 35-year-old man was shot multiple times and police say he is in critical condition.

So far, police have not said whether the shootings are connected.
