3 shootings, 1 deadly, in just over 2 hours in Camden

People in Camden are on edge as police look for someone they think was responsible for three shootings in just over two hours, and the last of those shootings was deadly.

Police released a surveillance picture of the man they want, and another of the SUV they think he and two accomplices drove.

The first shooting happened late Tuesday at about 11:26pm. Camden County police officer heard a gunshot near the 1400 block of S. 8th Street. The three suspects approached two people who were sitting in a car. The gunman tapped on the passenger side window and fired once into the front window with a shotgun. Luckily, he missed.

Then, 15 minutes after midnight Wednesday, Camden County police responded to a shooting in the 3100 block of Berkley Street. A victim reported he was walking near Garden and Freemont avenues when a man with a shotgun approached and fired the shotgun, but that victim was not hit either.

Unfortunately, that streak didn't last in the third shooting.

Camden County police say at about 1:32am Wednesday, they found 19-year-old Terron L. Phillips lying in the street with a gunshot wound in the 3500 block of Pierce Street. He died at the hospital.

Nobody has been arrested.

Now, police are asking for help identifying the man in the picture. They say to call 911 if you see him or the SUV, and do not approach, because the people should be considered armed and dangerous.

FOX 29's Steve Keeley reports there has been a spike in crime in Camden. He says crime is up 45 percent this year. Also, it took until August last year to have same number of homicides as Camden has right now in mid-May.
