Elusive 'Snowbird Bandit' Caught, ID'd as Former LAPD Detective

LOS ANGELES, CA- Authorities say a former LAPD detective has been arrested in connection with a string of bank robberies in California.

The alleged robber, dubbed the "Snowbird Bandit," has been identified as 70-year-old Randolph Bruce Adair. Police say Adair is responsible for five robberies in Orange County this year.

Authorities had been searching for the Snowbird Bandit since March.

Adair's family tipped off police to his involvement, police say. He was taken into custody in a parking lot in Rancho Santa Margarita.

Adair, who was given the nickname by cops due to his age and white hair, is being held on $205,000 bail.

He reportedly worked for the LAPD from 1967 to 1988.
