Getting Results: Playground slide at local park

PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) FOX 29 is Getting Results for kids who use the playground slide at Sherwood Park in Southwest Philly.

Home daycare operator Leslie Abbot takes her kids to the playground all the time, but with one loud warning: don't use the big slide. It's coming apart at the seems- jagged metal seems that can cut skin and snag clothing.
"It's scary," says Abbott. "Really scary!"

Abbott says she's called the city three times since March, trying to get the slide repaired, without success. So she called FOX 29 and our Bruce Gordon got involved, sending pictures of the jagged metal to officials at the city's department of Parks and Recreation.

Workers quickly went to the playground to tape off the dangerous slide.

Parks and Rec officials promise a full repair will be made on Monday, weather permitting.
Those officials say the Kenney administration's controversial sugary drinks tax proposal would-- in addition to funding expanded pre-K-- provide money for park upgrades all over the city.
