Overbrook (WTXF) - Heartbroken family members returned to the scene where a hit-and-run killed an eight-year-old girl in Overbrook.
Sunday marked exactly one month since the beloved second grader's life was taken, and the community is still shaken by the loss of Jayanna Powell.
Jayanna was walking home from school with her brother when she was hit by a car at 63rd and Lansdowne Ave The driver didn't stop, instead he sped away.
It was almost two weeks later when police say they caught up with him after locating the damaged car at an auto body shop in Chester county.
Now, the family says an arrest, while important, can hardly ease the pain of losing eight-year-old Jayanna.
"It's extremely hard, only one month," said Ayeshia Poole, the victim's mother. "You don't imagine this to happen, so hard, it's painful."
Paul Woodlyn, 24, has been charged with homicide by vehicle, manslaughter and related offenses.
