Jose threatens beach erosion, flooding, rip currents in New Jersey

NORTH WILDWOOD, N.J. (AP/WTXF) - Jose is expected to pass well east of the New Jersey shore, but forecasters are warning of rip currents and coastal flooding.

The National Weather Service has issued coastal flood warnings and advisories and warned of rip currents on Wednesday.

Minor coastal flooding is expected during Wednesday morning's high tide, including on local roadways.

Breaking waves are expected to be four to six feet along the coast.

Dangerous surf and rip currents are expected to continue for several days. The rough surf became a major tourist attraction in North Wildwood.

"I love mother nature and that's why I came down," Kimberly Trainor from Pittman, New Jersey, told FOX 29.

Despite the fury of mother nature, many consider themselves lucky we dodged another direct hit from a major hurricane.

There's a concern of beach erosion with this powerful storm.
