Pair arrested after string of robberies in Delaware

Delaware State Police have arrested two people in connection with a string of robberies earlier in the week.

George L. Hamilton, 46, and Jessica August, 23, have been charged with three counts of first degree robbery, and several related charges.

According to police, the couple robbed two stores in New Castle and a store in Bear this past Thursday evening.

In each robbery, police say Hamilton walked into the stores and approached the counter displaying a handgun and demanding cash from the register.

Hamilton then fled the scenes in a white van.

Later that evening, troopers observed Hamilton's van driving in New Castle, where officers conducted a stop, arresting Hamilton.

Troopers then searched Hamilton's home, where they encountered August, Hamilton's girlfriend. Investigators determined August was in the van while Hamilton pulled off the robberies.

Each was held on $204,000 bond.
