Surveillance video of robbery/arson in Fishtown released

- Philadelphia Police are searching for suspects in connection with a robbery and arson in Fishtown.

The incident occurred on Sunday at 5:09 a.m. at the Philadelphia Brotherhood Mission on the 400 block of East Girard Avenue.

The victim, a 46-year-old male, and a 33-year-old male witness were in front of the property when two unknown males got out of a vehicle.

Police say the first suspect armed with a baseball bat, broke the glass front door and then chased the witness onto the street, striking his right leg.

According to police, the second suspect then took the victim’s cane and hit him in the left shoulder several times and lit a plastic bag, throwing it at the victim. Police say same suspect then got into the driver’s side of the vehicle – possibly a light-colored KIA along with Suspect one and fled allegedly saying, “I am coming back to burn this place down.”

They both then fled and were last seen east on Girard Avenue towards I-95.

The victim suffered injuries to his right shoulder and was taken to Episcopal Hospital.

Suspect #1 is described as a white male, 20-25 years of age, 5’7”, 160 pounds, wearing a plaid shirt and an orange baseball cap with what looked to be a little league baseball bat on front.

Suspect #2 is described as a white male, 50 years of age, 280 pounds, whitish gray hair, gray shirt, and jeans.
