Man arrested on multiple charges related to road rage incident in Norristown

Police arrested a man on multiple charges related to a road rage incident in Montgomery County.

Christopher Cossel, 31, of Pottstown was involved in a road rage shooting on September 22. He is charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, person not to possess a firearm and other charges stemming from the incident.

A joint investigation revealed that the two vehicles were traveling northward on Route 100 in Montgomery County.

The two vehicles first made contact near North State Street. After the initial encounter, Cossel drove his vehicle onto the right-hand shoulder and then maneuvered in an attempt to broadside the victim's vehicle. The victim took defensive action and avoided the crash.

Farther down Route 100, as the vehicles were stopped at an intersection, Cossel exited his vehicle and fired at least one gunshot from a semi-automatic weapon toward the victim's vehicle.

The firearm used by Cossel was recovered by police.

Cossel was arraigned on Thursday, November 16 and his bail was set at $99,000. He was unable to make bail and was remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility.
