Man shot in chest several times, killed overnight

Police are searching for a killer after they responded to a report of gunshots in Kensington.

They got to the scene at Kensington and E. Allegheny avenues, under the Market-Frankford El, just after 1am.

There, they found the victim -- identified as 45-year-old Maului Lewis -- suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his chest.

Medics took him to the hospital but he was pronounced dead soon after.

Police say there have been no arrests and they're looking into a motive.

Also overnight, police in West Philadelphia said a 29-year-old man struck several parked vehicles in the 5200 block of Parrish Street before 11pm Saturday. They said he may have been trying to escape the crash on foot when he was shot in the neck, stomach and buttocks. He is in the hospital, recovering.

Earlier, in South Philadelphia, a 21-year-old man was shot several times in a breezeway. It happened near a home in the 2300 block of Ritner Street, shortly before 8:30pm Saturday. He is in critical condition.
