Lucky break! Most moisture evaporated before hitting the ground

We weren't expecting much, but got a lucky break when it came to snow on this Saturday.

FOX 29 meteorologist Monica Cryan explained an area of mixed precipitation -- including snow, sleet, and rain - did move into the area late Saturday morning.

The band of snow and sleet showed up on radar, and we showed you all the colors, but most of the moisture evaporated before hitting the ground.

There was little to no accumulation except in the case of Lehigh Valley.

A burst of moderate to heavy snowfall left anywhere from half to a whole inch of snow for towns in Lehigh, Northampton and Carbon counties.

Later Saturday, a wintry mix could still bring slick roads but all precipitation should end before midnight.

Temperatures will be dropping below freezing, to the upper 20s to low 30s -- a lot less than the high of 67 in Philadelphia on Thursday.

But next week, the temperatures will rebound a bit.
